Overview:-

In general, Hepatitis A is a virus that causes infection on the liver. It is known as Hepatitis ‘A’ disease in the term of disease. It comes under the highly communicable disease and this virus is one of the types of viruses of Hepatitis that causes inflammation and infection on the liver. Once a person got affected by this virus, s/he would never get infected again.

HEPATITIS A VIRUS

The people would be a victim of this virus from mainly unhygienic, contaminated and stored foods. The virus is most active in the aquatic region. That’s why we need to drink water by purifying only. Hepatitis ‘A’ virus won’t affect your liver like Hepatitis ‘B’ and ‘C’ but it would play a role in losing your immunity power. Due to this, you will be unable or get deprived of going to work. This virus may also transmit from a person to person.

HAV was first introduced in 1973 and may be caused without any symptoms.

From 1973 to 1994 there was no vaccination or medicine for this disease.

Later on, in 1995, the virus researchers became successful in producing an antidote for HAV. After the vaccinations been introduced and were given to the local people, the infection rates of HAV in the USA got drastically changed and declined by more than 95 percent.

Having hygienic and fresh foods is the main step to stay away from this disease. And being physically fit would decrease the having any kind of disease by 75 percent.

 

What are the symptoms of Hepatitis ‘A’ disease?

As I have already mentioned, generally, symptoms of this disease may not be seen, but the liver of the victim is being infected day by day. The symptoms may be seen only after a few weeks from the date of infection. Symptoms of Hepatitis A disease are enlisted below:-

  1. You will feel nausea in the beginning stage.
  2. Vomiting may occur mainly in the night.
  3. Loss of appetite and fatigue.
  4. The patient may feel an ache on the joint of bone.
  5. A slight fever may be seen sometimes.
  6. Urine will become yellow and dark.
  7. There will be pain in the area of the liver. The area may include the upper part of the stomach and ribs cage.
  8. Color of eyes and the skin will turn into yellow. That means the patient may have jaundice as the symptom of Hepatitis ‘A’ disease.

These symptoms may go away for some days and could also get return back for more than 6 months recurringly.

What are the causes of Hepatitis ‘A’?

It is the disease of inflammation that is caused by the virus of the same name of the disease, Hepatitis A. Some causes of Hepatitis A may include:-

  1. Drinking water and eating such type of foods that are contaminated and infected by the virus.
  2. Having foods that are found in the aquatic region such as kinds of seafood.
  3. Been in sexual contact with the person who is already infected by the virus, Hepatitis.
  4. Using handkerchief and clothes of an infected person by healthy people can also be the cause of hepatitis.

Risk factors of this Hepatitis:-

  • Living in the area of the colony where the crowd of people is present.
  • Being in contact regularly in a community residence.
  • People working in the care center like daycare, childcare have the risk of having this disease.
  • The people having HIV positive will have a high risk of having hepatitis A.
  • Sexual contact with the infected partner.
  • Homosexuality.
  • Use of shared needles(which are not well sterilized).
  • Hemophilia( a kind of blood clotting problem of disease).

Treatments:-

Till now, there is no such type of treatments rather than home therapy. But sometimes overcoming the level of dehydration would help to prevent this disease. For the treatment of this disease, you need to follow these points:-

  • Say take care to alcohol and never ever try to introduce yourself with it.
  • Take a required rest after a certain time of your work.
  • Start dieting.
  • Maintain yourself physically and mentally fit.

Preventions of Hepatitis A:-

The one and most prevention method of this disease is vaccination. But there are some other preventive measures of Hepatitis A. They are:-

  1. Immunization or vaccination is mandatory for every people.
  2. Always wash both hands before having any kind of foods and liquids.
  3. Wash dishes and foods properly before bringing in use.
  4. Never eat raw and half cooked food.
  5. If possible, live in a peaceful area where no infected people would come.
