Overview

In simple words, Argan oil is a vegetable oil which is extracted from the kernel of the Argan tree, which is also known as Argania Spinosa as a scientific name.

It is enriched in nutrients and will help to heal wounds, relieve pain, and works as a skincare cosmetics.

One of the interesting facts is that it can be only found in Morocco, Africa.

It is yellowish in color, and we can smell the light fragrance of it.

As Argan trees can only be found in Morocco, it is regarded as a “rare beauty god.”

It is needed 100kg of Argan fruit to extract 1 liter of argan oil.

Each argan trees produce fruits for about 30-40 years of age.

However, the average life expectancy of it is 150-200 years.

In ancient times, native Moroccans had harvested Argan seeds from Tarmi mountain goat and extracted Argan oil by manual methods.

These days, this skincare oil can also be extracted by cold pressing method, industrialized, but there are some stages that need to be followed, such as seed separation which has to be done manually.

Ingredients of Argan oil

Argan contains vitamin E (a type of tocopherols), antioxidant phenols, carotenes, squalene, and essential fatty acids and many other nutrients.

The main organic compounds in Argan oil are:

  • Caffeic acid,
  • Oleuropein,
  • Vanillic acid,
  • Tyrosol,
  • Catechol,
  • Resorcinol,
  • Epicatechin, and
  • Catechin.

The essential fatty acids are as follows:

  • Linolenic acid <0.5%
  • Stearic acid 6.0%
  • Palmitic Acid 12.0%
  • Linoleic acid 36.8%
  • Oleic acid 42.8%

Argan oil contains nutrients that have anti-inflammatory, anti-free radical properties, enhance resistance, limit cholesterol, protect the cardiovascular system, digestion, etc.

Some of the other health benefits of argan oil are as follows:
