TONSILLITIS-CAUSES,SYMPTOMS,TREATMENT&PREVENTION

Overview:-

Tonsillitis is a type of inflammation disease on which irritation in tonsils occurs. Tonsils are the human organs which are located on each side at the backside of the throat. In general, the tonsillitis is the irritation on each tonsil.

It comes under those type of diseases which affects most of the people in the USA every year.

Tonsillitis may occur mainly due to the virus, but in some cases, bacteria could also play a role in causing tonsillitis.

It doesn’t long last if the proper treatment will be done. It can be diagnosed in a complete way by checking the examination of the throat and root causes.

What are the symptoms of tonsillitis?

Tonsillitis is rarely seen to the matured people. It occurs mainly to the school children and young people. Following are the symptoms of tonsillitis:-

  1. Tonsils turn into red and will be swollen.
  2. Patches and pus may be seen in tonsils area which is white and yellow in color.
  3. The victim may feel difficulty in breathing and swallowing foods and liquids.
  4. Headache may occur due to the irritation.
  5. Fever can be seen sometimes in some cases.
  6. You may feel pain in the throat area which is actually called sore throat.
  7. Change in voice(hoarseness).Voice may be unclear on understanding.
  8. Smells of breathing will be bad. And the victim wishes to breathe from the mouth only.
  9. Sometimes you may feel pain in the ear and neck.
  10. Excessive coughing. Blood may be seen that comes from irritation of the throat.
  11. Having a difficulty in sleeping because of pain in the neck.
  12. Swelling of lymph glands.
  13. Pain in the stomach is mostly seen in the children.
  14. Lossing interest in foods.
  15. Weakness.
  16. Fatigue.

 

What are the causes of tonsillitis?

Tonsillitis is mainly caused by the virus, but sometimes it may be caused due to bacteria, too. Following points are the causes of tonsillitis:-

1. Caused by Virus 

  •  Rhinovirus is the type of virus which causes the common cold. And it slowly infects the throat. In this way, inflammation on the throat occurs.
  • Adeno Virus also promotes tonsillitis as it is directly associated with the common cold and sore in the throat.
  • These days, flu is one of the challenging diseases as it transmitted through meat and several mediums. And influenza named virus also plays a role in causing tonsillitis.
  • Some viruses like Epstein-Barr virus, HSV(Herpes Simplex Virus), and Cytomegalo Virus participate sometimes in causing this inflammation in tonsils.
  • RSV, commonly known as Respiratory Syncytial Virus is that type of virus which directly attacks in respiratory system and organs as well.

2. Caused by Bacteria

These days, bacteria called Streptococcus Pyogenes is the common bacteria which infect the part of tonsils. In addition to that, the bacteria that are less likely to infect the tonsils are as given below:-

  • Fusobacterium
  • Mycoplasma pneumonia
  • Bordetella pertussis
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Neisseria gonorrhoeae
  • Chlamydia pneumonia

 

Additional Causes due to unhealthy lifestyle,

  • Smoking is directly related to the cause of tonsillitis.
  • Dehydration could produce scratches in the throat. Due to this, irritation will be turned into inflammation.
  • Drinking excessive cold and hot foods and liquids can also be credited for the cause of this disease.

 

What are the preventions of tonsillitis?

Well, maintaining a healthy lifestyle will always keep you far away from any type of disease. In addition to that, we have to take care of the preventions of every disease because all types of disease will harm us and waste our time and money. Preventive measures of tonsillitis may include:-

  1. Never make a habit of having a smoke. If you already have the habit of smoking, then quit smoking.
  2. Don’t take too much cold liquids and foods.
  3. Having excessive cold alcohol like whiskey, beer could promote irritation in tonsils and inflammation will occur. So, minimize the quantity of having alcohol.
  4. Cleaning hand and mouth before eating anything such as daily foods, water could also prevent you from having tonsillitis.
  5. Never share a toothbrush with anyone. Because the virus and bacteria may be transmitted through the toothbrush, too. ( Change or replace your own toothbrush after diagnosing tonsillitis. )
  6. Use your own utensils, water glass, etc.
  7. Drink warm water during the winter season and normal in the summer.
  8. Teach your children and the people to not coughing everywhere. Tell them to spit on the paper and throw them in the dustbin.
  9. Use handkerchief during sneezing.
  10. Consult with a doctor immediately if you have seen the above-mentioned symptoms.

Treatments of tonsillitis:-

Different types of diseases have a different way of treatment. That’s why, tonsillitis can be cured doing an examination of lab report such as blood test, urine test, etc. That’s why Health My Lives always recommends you to consult with a doctor for the further treatments of any medical cases. On doing the test of blood and urine, the physician would analyze all the ingredients present in your blood and urine.

Then, s/he will detect whether there is a presence of the virus is available or not.

If they have seen any virus or bacteria in your blood, they will prescribe you for antibiotics. Till now, according to the physician, penicillin is the most effective antibiotics of tonsillitis which is caused due to group A streptococcus.

But, some child’s health condition will not fine on using penicillin. In this case, you have to inform them and they will replace the penicillin with another antibiotic.
